How many seconds before the timed close of a Trade Me auction do bids actually close? I made a last-minute bid on this extraordinary jacket but apparently it didn't register in time to count.
I'm posting its portrait as part of the grieving process.
Bids don't close until the timed close of the auction, but it needs to arrive and be processed in time - depending on the traffic, that might take a few seconds, or longer if there is congestion somewhere. Most trademe auctions extend automatically if there is bid activity in the last two minutes, so there's less point in trying to snipe the auction in the last few seconds - bidding anytime in the last minute or thirty seconds is probably just as effective as waiting until the very end.
